Job Description

We are looking for a mechanically inclined candidate with good attention to detail for the position of Forklift Mechanic. The primary duties of a Forklift Mechanic is to maintain and repair all material handling equipment; and performs all preventive maintenance functions.

1st Shift, Monday-Friday.

Forklift Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoots and repairs material handling equipment; including fork trucks, power lifts, sweepers and scrubbers.
• Repairs material handling equipment which may include replacement of electrical motors, switches, fuses, etc. Performs battery changes on equipment.
• Maintain batteries and chargers in working order in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use tools and equipment carefully as instructed.
• Cleans, changes, and lubricates bearings, gears, and other machinery parts using tools, rags, brushes, and grease gun on any production equipment.
• Identifies parts needed and orders in a timely, cost effective manner.
• Communicates timeline for completion of repairs to ensure excellent and timely service.
• Maintains and repairs overhead doors, man doors, dock plates, and dock levelers.
• Follows OSHA guidelines. Safely operates equipment according to the manufacturer's guidelines and in accordance with company safety rules.
• Promotes and maintains a flexible, cooperative, positive, team-oriented and customer-focused attitude within and between co-workers, departments, and other warehouse locations.

Forklift Mechanic Requirements:

• GED, HSED or high school diploma.
• 1 - 3 years maintenance mechanic experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of general warehouse practices.
• Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret pencil sketches and diagrams.
• Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
