Job Description

Director of Government Affairs

Rising Tide Associates (RTA) is a public affairs firm that uniquely integrates government affairs, business development, and public relations services into strategies that lead to business growth. Consistently recognized by Bloomberg Government as one of the Top Performing Lobbying Firms in the United States, Rising Tide has a remarkably successful track record of delivering strategic counsel, marketing advice, policy direction, legislative advocacy, outreach planning, and media relations to our clients.

Our work is focused on supporting American manufacturing companies who produce the fiber, textiles, uniforms, armor, footwear and associated clothing and equipment utilized by the members of the U.S. Armed Services. Distinctively different from traditional lobbying firms, we develop long-term relationships with our clients and apply our decades of experience to deliver measurable results.

Our business continues to grow, therefore we are seeking a Director of Government Affairs to join our team and help support the work we do on behalf of the domestic supply chain.

The Director of Government Affairs will be responsible for supporting the business growth of our clients. The position will work closely with the Principal and Managing Director to analyze business challenges, form policy positions, develop compelling strategies and successfully implement advocacy solutions.

The successful candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, outstanding writing and public speaking skills, and a work ethic focused on helping our clients succeed. The ability to build strong relationships with senior executives and elected officials is essential. Responsibilities of this position include:

· Analyze, recommend and direct federal government affairs strategies that support the needs of Rising Tide’s clients.

· Communicate client’s public policy positions and business needs in a compelling manner to Members of Congress, Congressional staff, federal agency representatives, state legislators, regulators and other officials

· Provide government affairs and strategic business advice to client’s senior leadership on key issues, trends, legislative and regulatory activities.

· Write press releases, marketing material, and business development strategies on behalf of our clients.

· Support client-related events, including firm-managed trade association events, industry trade shows, client visits and Congressional tours.

· Enthusiastically be willing to do the large and small things that help a small business grow.

· As necessary, develop relationships with outside lobbying firms for effective teaming.

· Have a sense of humor, a positive outlook and a strong interest in the important work being done by our clients.

This position requires travel within the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, Marblehead MA and around the United States for visits to client facilities. Travel is estimated at 20%.

Requirements:

· 4 + years of experience as Congressional staff or within a government affairs/public relations practice.

· Demonstrated track record of success working with government entities to effect change.

· Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business, Public Relations, or related discipline.

· Strong references.

This position has been categorized as a Remote position. Remote employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace but instead work from a physical location of their choice in the Washington DC area. Compensation and benefits are commensurate with experience. 401k, profit sharing and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health Care are available.
