Organization: Sutter Health Plan - Valley
Position Overview: In support of marketing, digital and communication strategies, this position helps Sutter effectively influence, inform and engage key audiences through print, presentations, videos, online platforms, and other digital media. As an expert storyteller, incorporates excellent writing skills, current trends, employee/consumer insights, and communication best practices to deliver creative content that builds an understanding of Sutter strategies and generates demand for our products and services. Oversees all phases of editorial planning, researching, writing, editing and implementation to create compelling content that attracts, educates, and motivates audiences. Actively seeks new opportunities to tell the Sutter Story-continually engaging with subject-matter experts as well as exploring emerging online and digital media trends to identify, plan, and implement creative strategies. As approved, may hire and oversee the work of freelance writers and other professionals to ensure timely completion of high quality, cost-efficient communications projects.
Focus on Digital Health Programs
In support of communication strategies for health management digital patient engagement programs, this position helps Sutter effectively influence, inform and engage key audiences through writing compelling copy and creating content to support diverse care management programs that leverage digital channels. Proficiency with mediums extends to print, presentations, videos, online platforms, and other digital media. As an expert storyteller, incorporates excellent writing skills, translates clinical educational content into easily digestable, easy-to-read modules. Leverages current trends, consumer insights, and communication best practices to deliver creative content that builds an understanding of Sutter program strategies and supports multiple healthcare initiatives. Oversees all phases of editorial planning, researching, writing, editing and implementation to create compelling content that attracts, educates, and motivates audiences with successful patient-centric digital experiences, and targeted outreach campaigns to manage everyday, chronic health conditions. Actively seeks new opportunities to tell the Sutter Story-continually engaging with subject-matter experts as well as exploring emerging online and digital media trends to identify, plan, and implement creative strategies.
This is a work from home role with some onsite requirements.
Job Description :
EDUCATION [Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma]
- Bachelor's: Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations (PR) or related field.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE - 5 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE - Exceptional writing, research, and comprehension skills, with the ability to formulate complex technical, regulatory and contractual information into understandable communications that advance the corporate, marketing, and branding goals for Sutter Health.
- Analytical, negotiation and project management skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated understanding of regional, state and national health care and medicine issues, Northern California current events, and cultural and health care trends.
- Versatility and experience in a variety writing styles such as marketing, technical, executive, and employee communications.
- Expert communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interpret communication plans and strategies, and then translate them into messages that influence, inform and engage targeted audiences.
- Working knowledge of selecting/hiring third-party talent for creative services, graphic design and production, publication development and management, market research, and video production.
- Robust computer skills, including proficiency with applications like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Captivate), Quark, or other related software.
- Translate complex technical, regulatory and contractual information into understandable communications.
- Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management, compliance/legal, and technical experts throughout the organization to provide recommendations and influence project direction and decisions.
- Work independently, as well as be part of the team, with organizational, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Manage, prioritize and drive multiple complex projects in an ever-changing environment to deliver quality products and services on-time and on-budget.
- Build collaborative work relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, diverse audiences and organizations.

Pay Range is $44.28 to $66.42 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
