The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking hardworking Civil, Construction, Environmental, or Structural Engineering students for employment during the summer months for the 2025 Summer Employment Program! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Transportation Technology Intern, you will gain knowledge in various emerging transportation technologies such as automated vehicles, connected vehicles, and electric vehicles, performing tasks such as report writing, grant application development, research, strategic planning, updating websites, and creating excel documents and PowerPoint presentations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
• Some positions may require travel
• Compensation is credit based:
  • Less than 90 credits - $20.76
  • Over 90 credits - $21.64

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements:

• Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.
• In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Special Requirement: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Majors:

• Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
