As a Tailor at Joe Z Tailoring, you will engage with customers in a purposeful and impactful way, helping them to look and feel their best in whatever attire they are seeking to alter or repair. Your keen sense of proper garment fit, eye for fashion, and warm personality will ensure every customer feels more confident than when they arrived. As a Tailor, you will manage your customer appointment schedule while actively developing a strong customer base by providing high-quality sewing repairs, fittings, and on-site tailoring.

Full-Time Tailors’ working hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform alterations and repairs on a variety of garments, including pants, shirts, dresses, jackets, formal wear, and casual wear.
• Take precise measurements and provide expert recommendations while collaborating with customers to understand their specific tailoring needs and ensure the perfect fit.
• Monitor and maintain sewing deadlines on a consistent basis, and ensure garments are completed 3 days before promised.
• Communicate scheduling with customers, including walk-ins.
• Communicate appropriate pricing and promise date with customers.
• Manage your own supply inventory.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks of all equipment and report any issues to Alterations Manager immediately. Keep work area tidy and hazard-free at all times.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a tailor, with expertise in garment alterations and repairs.
2. Strong knowledge of various sewing techniques, equipment, and garment construction.
3. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to achieve precise measurements and finishes.
4. Demonstrated competence using both home and industrial sewing equipment.
5. 2-year minimum garment sewing experience.
6. Knowledge of proper garment fit.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for customer service.
8. Effective communication, with the ability to listen actively and address customer needs.
9. Friendly, warm, and approachable demeanor that reflects our commitment to exceptional service.
10. Strong attention to detail.
11. Excellent time management skills to uphold customer scheduling and appointments.
12. Ability to work independently and reliably for long periods of time, with minimal supervision.
13. Ability to sit (in a chair and on the floor), kneel, and stand for long periods of time.
14. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
15. Basic computer and internet literacy.
16. Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
