Structural Welders

Pay: $27–$30 per hour

Location: Lafayette, LA

Job Summary

We are seeking skilled Structural Welders with strong experience in fabrication and structural welding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality welds, following approved procedures, and working collaboratively with the fabrication team. This role requires proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting welding symbols, and applying industry-standard welding techniques across various materials and positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow approved welding processes and procedures for each project

• Verify and assist with fit-up of components prior to welding

• Complete and inspect weld passes to meet quality and specification requirements

• Interpret drawings, welding symbols, weld maps, and WPS documents accurately

• Select appropriate wire and adjust welding machines based on job requirements

• Operate arc gouging equipment when needed

• Safely and effectively use grinders, hand tools, and welding equipment

• Assist fitters and other welders in cleaning, moving, clamping, and preparing materials

• Perform welding on carbon, alloy, and stainless steel materials, including plate, sheet, and fabricated components

• Produce welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions using gas-shielded flux core welding

• Clean completed welds with grinders or wire brushes as required

• Apply proper weld sequences to minimize distortion during fabrication

• Inspect and maintain welding equipment daily (machines, leads, flux-core boxes, grinders, etc.)

• Stamp or stencil completed welds according to specifications

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of fabrication or structural welding experience preferred

• Proficiency in FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) required

• Ability to weld carbon, alloy, and stainless steel

• Strong understanding of structural fabrication and shop welding techniques

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols

• Commitment to safety, quality, and proper equipment handling

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Schedule

• Full-time

• Monday–Friday with potential overtime depending on project demands

Compensation

• $27–$30 per hour, based on experience

• Long-term opportunity with potential for permanent placement
