The ideal candidate will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe. Our Group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary structures adds value to the success of our clients’ projects. Additionally, we provide on-site engineering and coordination support through leading and collaborating with Kiewit’s construction teams. Our group supports design-build tasks that include: Bridge erection & demolition, Cofferdam design, Critical crane lifts, Erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, Hoisting and jacking, Deep foundations and dewatering, Excavation support, Marine engineering, Pile drive analysis, Ductwork analysis, Falsework design, Temporary bridge & trestle, estimate support, Working surface design, On-site engineering support. Location This position is based out of our Woodcliff Lake, NJ OR Manhattan, NY offices. Responsibilities Proactive about learning new information and skills. Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization. Seeks feedback and uses it effectively. Has good understanding of the complete design and has good input into ways of improving the design. Utilize codes and standards to complete assignments. Recognize inefficiencies or misuse of symbology and questions. Identifies the customer’s both internally and externally. Handles various assignments, including rework, in timely manner to meet schedule deadlines. Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity. Performs quality checks of the design in a team environment to ensure accuracy. Carries out assignments carefully while focused on details. Qualifications Associates degree in Drafting, Construction technologies or related STEM fields. 4+ years' minimum relevant experience in civil/structural design. Receives limited instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignment from more experienced engineer. Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well. Communicates effectively orally and in writing. Present ideas clearly and in professional manner. Participates on teams effectively. Accepts direction from the team. Individually contributes to success of the team. Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives. Serves as point of contact for external or internal customers. Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers. Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines. Intermediate Revit skills. Other Requirements: Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
