Position Description for Sr. WordPress Developer

Apollidon Learning, an online program management firm serving higher education institutions, is seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and talented Sr. WordPress Developer who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the rapid growth of a small business.

You will be responsible for crafting and implementing custom WordPress themes and plugins while maintaining the highest code quality standards. Proficiency in React, Node.js, and TypeScript is a must as you'll be developing complex, responsive, and interactive websites.

The Sr. WordPress Developer position reports to the Director of Web Development Services .

 

Core Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the development of custom WordPress themes and plugins with a clean, intuitive design.
• Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of all WordPress installations.
• Implement front-end interfaces using React.js and manage application state with Redux (if applicable).
• Build and support back-end services with Node.js.
• Leverage TypeScript to ensure type safety and maintainability of the codebase.
• Collaborate with designers to match visual design intent.
• Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
• Provide technical support and maintenance for existing applications.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Requirements

• Minimum 4-6 years of hands-on experience as a WordPress Developer.
• Strong experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development.
• Knowledge in React and proficiency using and developing Gutenberg blocks.
• Ability to create responsive designs and interactive elements.
• In-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS while using Tailwind CSS.
• A detail-oriented approach to development and problem-solving.
• Excellent understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.

Nice to Have

• A portfolio of custom solutions developed in WordPress.
• Familiarity with additional JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a production environment.
• Understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that applications will adhere to them.
