Job Description

The Bened Life Science Writer must understand biomedical science research, be able to write engaging content, and be able to communicate effectively in both dietary supplement and medical food spaces as well as non-marketing content. The role involves identifying relevant research, writing research summaries and developing engaging stories about the scientific content, meeting compliance with applicable regulations when necessary. 

A successful Science Writer should demonstrate entry level experience in industry knowledge. Primary responsibilities include summarizing scientific research, writing blogs with scientific content for marketing needs, and writing research-based articles relevant for health care providers, researchers or research participants. Content includes website blogs, website scientific articles and has the potential to include scientific publications. 

Responsibilities:

✒ Scientific research: summarize scientific literature on probiotics, the microbiome, neuroscience, neurodiversity/neurological conditions, gut-brain axis and related topics for Bened Life

✒ Effectively translate and communicate scientific findings through the preparation of reviews, reports, presentations, blogs, and other communication regarding gut-brain axis, neuroscience, microbiome, neurodiversity/neurological conditions, probiotics and Bened Life-relevant topics
✒ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
✒ Working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google document applications (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides), etc)
✒ Ability to conduct research on scientific and medical topics and interpret the information.
✒ When applicable, apply regulatory needs (FDA/FTC) and adjust writing according for dietary supplement or medical food.
✒ Coordinate work with other people to ensure deadlines are met and writing and content creation is effectively communicated within the organization for development of materials. Pass written product through the stages of the project from creation to completion when applicable.

Requirements:

Masters and/or bachelors in biomedical sciences, microbiology, neuroscience or nutrition science

With a minor in English or journalism a plus, or experience in marketing/blog writing
Writing experience in medical writing in Industry or research writing experience or current PhD student/recent grad PhD in Nutrition Science, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry or related field
Preferred to have work experience in the dietary supplement and/or medical food industry; compensation depends on level of experience.
Ability to conduct research on scientific and medical topics and interpret the information with respect to regulatory needs
⭐ Exceptional analytical, investigative, and organizational skills.
⭐ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
⭐ Expert knowledge in using Google Scholar, Pubmed and/or other resources to identify interesting research; ability to go beyond AI answers of research questions is necessary
⭐ Working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google document applications (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides), etc./

Bonus Points:

Understanding of neurodiversity beneficial
Working knowledge of Monday.com beneficial or project management understanding
Understanding of SEO is beneficial
Fluency in Chinese could be an added bonus
