As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic SaaS Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SaaS Controller to oversee the financial operations of our subscription-based business. This role requires deep expertise in revenue recognition (ASC 606), deferred revenue management, and SaaS-specific financial metrics such as MRR, ARR, and churn. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing cash flow, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

As a key financial leader, you will collaborate with executive leadership to provide data-driven insights and ensure financial stability in a high-growth SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and IFRS.
• Manage deferred revenue accounting, ensuring accurate revenue recognition across subscription terms.
• Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations for SaaS, including multi-state and international tax reporting (VAT, GST).
• Prepare financial statements, audits, and investor reports as required.

Subscription & Revenue Management

• Track and analyze key SaaS financial metrics, including MRR, ARR, CAC, LTV, churn rate, NRR, and GRR.
• Develop and maintain accurate revenue forecasts based on subscription trends, contract renewals, and churn projections.
• Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure proper handling of customer contracts, pricing models, and billing structures.

Billing & Cash Flow Optimization

• Oversee subscription billing systems such as Stripe to ensure accurate invoicing, proration, and payment collections.
• Manage cash flow forecasting to balance revenue recognition with operational expenses.
• Optimize customer payment processing and collections to minimize revenue leakage and ensure timely payments.

Operational & Strategic Finance

• Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives, providing insights into profitability, pricing strategies, and cost management.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing financial automation tools (ERP, BI dashboards) to streamline reporting and analysis.
• Partner with investors and external auditors, ensuring transparency and compliance in all financial matters.

Equity & SaaS-Specific Tax Compliance

• Ensure compliance with economic nexus rules for SaaS sales tax across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee R&D capitalization and software amortization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsible for overseeing all HR functions in addition to financial operations.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 2+ years in a SaaS or subscription-based business.
• Expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition and deferred revenue management.
• Strong knowledge of subscription billing models (usage-based, tiered, hybrid).
• Experience with financial reporting software such as Quickbooks Online.
• Hands-on experience with SaaS-specific billing platforms such as Stripe.
• Proficiency in tracking SaaS metrics such as MRR, ARR, LTV, CAC, churn, and expansion revenue.
• Experience working with investors, venture capital firms, or private equity-backed businesses.
• Strong analytical skills, financial modeling experience, and attention to detail.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of international SaaS taxation (VAT, GST, SOC 2, ISO 27001 compliance).
• Experience in equity management, stock options accounting, and 409A valuations.
• Familiarity with automation tools for SaaS finance reporting.
