Job Description

Joby Aviation Flight Instructor

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We've designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We're looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced FAA-certificated flight instructor to join our Flight Standards and Training team to instruct pilots to operate our S4 electric aircraft. The job is based on-site at the Marina Municipal Airport, California. In addition to instructing trainee pilots, this role will be instrumental in continuing to develop the materials used to deliver the training, with the intent to produce a stream of highly standardized pool of pilots ready to be assigned to commercial service. The successful applicant will be willing to work in a fast-moving, innovative space, and will respond well to being involved with a radically new aviation environment.

  • Contribute to the development of the S4 pilot training course.
  • Contribute to the development of a standardized training course for S4 instructor pilots.

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor.
  • A minimum of 1,000 hours pilot in command (PIC) flight time.

  • Prior to starting employment, must be in possession of a current, valid U.S or foreign passport and able to travel freely between the United States and any foreign countries in which we may be operating.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for business purposes.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
