What You’ll Do…

These positions are located at our R&D Facilities in Houston. Our intern program philosophy is to “recruit once, hire twice” with the hope to hire interns back into full-time or return internship roles.

The internship program assignments are 10-14 weeks in duration and are full-time on-site internships. The summer 2025 internship is expected to begin on May 19, 2025.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Projects you could potentially work on include:

  • Research, create, and help drive new innovative Low-Frequency Distributed Acoustic Sensing (LF-DAS), Strain (DSS), and Temperature (DTS) data interpretation approaches.
  • Matching model with experiments in cross-well strain monitoring applications
  • Contribute to the documentation and delivery of analytics
  • Adhere to coding standards as set by the team lead
  • Work with stakeholders, analysists, scientists, and others to understand analysis requirements and design solutions

What You’ll Bring to Our Team

Required Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future; Halliburton will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Science or Engineering
  • Registered in Masters or Ph.D. program in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or Physics / Applied Physics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and mathematical analysis tools, including Python, and Matlab
  • Ability & desire to work with a multi-disciplinary team (analysts, data scientists, data engineers, applied physicists, technicians and technologists)

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS. or Ph.D. student.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Can-do attitude and self-reliance
  • Strong problem-solving abilities 
  • Knowledge of fiber optic sensing techniques.
  • Experience in processing Low-Frequency Distributed Acoustic Sensing (LF-DAS) Data
  • Experience in processing Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS)
  • Strong interest in geomechanics and oil and gas production
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. To qualify, your university and/or permanent address must be more than 50 miles from your work location.

Salary Range: $31 - $36/hour
