Postdoctoral Researcher – Climate Smart Land Management INSPIRE is an NSF EPSCoR funded project that supports regional populations interested in implementing climate‑smart land management practices. The interdisciplinary team is composed of social scientists, natural scientists, and community members working with partners such as the University of Idaho, the University of Montana, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and Salish Kootenai Tribal College. Overview The project seeks to implement climate‑smart practices in forests and farms in Idaho and Montana, quantify ecological, social, and economic impacts, and develop training programs for under‑represented groups in STEM. This interdisciplinary effort includes social‑science research, field data collection, ecosystem modeling, and integration of Traditional Knowledge with Western Sciences. Responsibilities Work with two social scientists to design, conduct, and analyze focus groups in collaboration with local communities. Assess community interest, knowledge, and barriers to climate‑smart land‑management practices. Maintain community relationships throughout the project duration. Contribute to the analysis of qualitative data and support the team’s social‑science research objectives. Qualifications Strong training and experience in qualitative research methods. Experience working with indigenous communities is highly desirable. Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build long‑term partnerships.
