Duties and Responsibilities
The day-to-day duties of a truck driver generally include:

• loading and unloading cargo or products, sometimes using lifting or tipping devices
• ensuring cargo is safely secured throughout the trip
• operating the truck safely and following all road safety rules and traffic laws, especially those relating to trucks
• maintaining documentation, including logs, timesheets, and records of any safety incidents
• inspecting the truck to prevent any safety issues and Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications
To excel in their role, a truck driver must have a range of prerequisite skills and qualifications, including:

• be reliable
• proficiency in the use of GPS navigation systems
• a clean driving record
• ability to maintain concentration while driving for several hours at a time
• strong knowledge of traffic laws, particularly truck driving rules and regulations
• ability to lift heavy items
• strong time management skills
• problem-solving skills to deal with accidents and unforeseen incidents
• a valid truck driver’s license
