Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener provides crisis assessments across the developmental lifespan in the screening center.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master's Degree Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health, or Master's Degree in Mental Health discipline
  • One year post-master's acute care experience in a psychiatric setting

Or:

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology
  • Three years acute care full-time post-bachelor experience, one year of which is in a crisis setting
• Clean driver's license as determined by the employer, and validated by the state MVA in which the employee resides

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certified, or certification eligible as a Screener by the State of New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Hospitals

  • Must be approved by DMHAS for a temporary license prior to hire

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem

Essential Functions:

• Provide ER, hospital based and community based crisis assessment for children and adults
• Determine appropriate levels of care based on NJ screening laws and make referrals to ensure safe discharge planning
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop admission and discharge plans
• Coordinate with community providers
• Provide mobile crisis outreach for adults over 18 in Union County
• Answer crisis line
