Woodberry Forest School, located in Madison, VA, is an exceptional private boarding school community for high school boys in grades nine through twelve. It is one of the top boarding schools in the United States and one of the only all-boys, all-boarding schools in the country. Woodberry's 1,200-acre campus is the largest for boarding schools in Virginia, and one of the largest private school campuses in the country.

Major Purpose

Responsible for the day to day maintenance of all the WFS vehicles and equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
• Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.
• Repair or replace broken or defective parts and fix issues.
• Orders supplies and parts as needed.
• Make sure all state inspections and registrations are current.
• Ensure the vehicles have full gas levels each morning and submit gas usage reports each Monday.
• Provide oversight to Auto Detailer.
• Inspect school vehicles.
• Other duties as requested.

Working Conditions

Moderate physical activity. Possible exposure to contaminants, such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers, and sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable. May be called in for work after hours.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

• 3 years of experience working as an auto mechanic
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
• Valid commercial B driver's license
• Valid certification (e.g. ASE, Safety Inspector) preferred
• State inspection license (or ability) preferred
• CDL license required

Education and Training Requirements

High school diploma or GED required

Certification from a vocational school preferred
