POSITION OVERVIEW: The Head Custodian IV (HCIV) oversees the building operations, maintenance, and custodial staff at PATHS / Casco Bay High School , ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment. Reporting to Facilities Management, this role requires leadership, problem-solving, and hands-on maintenance work. SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the school building and grounds. Supervise custodial staff, assign tasks, and assist with cleaning duties. Conduct inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met. Oversee building security, including opening and closing procedures. Submit and coordinate work orders for repairs; perform minor emergency fixes. Train and support custodial staff in best practices and equipment use. Monitor and maintain heating, cooling, and other facility conditions. Manage supply inventory and approve staff time sheets. Prepare the facility for staff and community events. Follow and enforce safety protocols. QUALIFICATIONS: Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking . Knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning practices, and equipment. Ability to supervise and train custodial staff. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Google Workspace and basic computer operations. Ability to lift 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs with assistance) and perform physical tasks. Three to five years of supervisory experience in building maintenance, preferably in a school setting. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be available for overtime, night shifts, and snow removal as needed. Employees must maintain an active phone number with their supervisor.
