Job Summary

As an EHS Specialist, you will work under the direction of the Plant Manager providing support for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the Midland facility that minimize all safety risks and reduce potential liabilities. You will work with all managers and employees to ensure compliance with all safety procedures and establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment, thereby eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and or property damage.

In this role, you will assist in identifying, analyzing, and controlling occupational hazards at the plant. You will do this through applying knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to design safety features, controls, and training programs. The EHS Specialist will assist with accident investigations and follow up with corrective actions on such incidents. You will conduct written program and procedure reviews and report out on environment, health, and safety statistics to the Plant Manager. Other responsibilities include participating in facility audits, manufacturing, and efficiency programs, and ensuring 5S standards are met and maintained throughout.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or other related field is preferred.
• 1-year experience with OHSA Regulations, including record keeping and conducting EHS Training sessions for all levels of staff is preferred.
• Organizational and cross functional skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Must be self-motivated, and be able to make independent, informed and prioritized decisions.
• Must be able to work in both individual and team industrial work settings with minimal supervision.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license for business travel up to 10%.

• The position works with a wide range of people representing many different internal and external functions. The ability to communicate verbally and in writing, convey teaming, problem solving, and operate with consistency with a sense of fairness is a strong nature of the position.
• Define the problems of any safety, machine and other safety-related issues and respond in an efficient and timely manner.
