As a STEM Education Specialist for the Virginia Space Grant Consortium in Hampton, Virginia, you will support immersive STEM education and outreach programs for K-12 students and educators. You will develop curriculum and content for, as well as coordinate and implement innovative online and site-based STEM educational programs for secondary students. The position will also include coordinating educator professional development workshops, higher education projects, and other projects as assigned. If you’re the right person for this job you’ll have previous experience working with students and educators, using online learning tools, and planning and implementing STEM education programming.
The position is full-time in-office and is based at the Old Dominion University Peninsula Higher Education Center in Hampton, VA. At the VSGC, we partner with NASA, industry, and institutions to provide STEM education, promote STEM research, and prepare a diverse STEM workforce. We provide FREE scholarships, fellowships, STEM courses and programs, internships with NASA and industry, NASA summer academies, educator professional development, and STEM research. Job Responsibilities:
Work Tasks and/or Duties:
Curriculum and content development for online and site-based STEM and aerospace-related programs for secondary students.
Coordinate summer high school student residential programs in partnership with NASA centers and Virginia universities
Coordinate and deliver professional development activities and workshops for teachers.
Coordinate higher education, informal education, and other projects as assigned by collaborating with representatives and partners from school districts, NASA centers, universities, industries, and other stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
