Description
The Education Specialist will apply adult learning principles to the instructional design, development, and implementation of continuing medical educational content for the IASLC's multidisciplinary membership This position will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging and effective educational activities that meet the evolving needs of medical professionals who manage patients with thoracic cancers.
This nonsupervisory position is physically based in our downtown Denver, CO office on a hybrid work schedule. This position reports to the Associate Director, Education.
Essential Functions: - Collaborate with SMEs to assess educational needs and objectives.
- Design and develop innovative and interactive instructional material for continuing medical education (CME) activities.
- Utilize instructional design principles to create engaging learning experiences.
- Incorporate multimedia elements, such as videos, simulations, microlearning, social media CME and interactive modules, into educational content.
- Ensure compliance with the ACCME accreditation standards and guidelines for CME activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the educational activities.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in medical education and instructional design.
- Align with the LMS specialist and the Associate Director, Information Technology.
- Primary contact with platform vendors to troubleshoot end user, internal, system performance and/or functionality issues.
- Create evaluative tools and provide timely reporting and analytics to capture learner feedback and assess achievement of education program goals.
- Collect, track, report, and document conflict of interest resolution.
- Provide support, onsite or remotely, for professional education activities at IASLC meetings, conferences, and CME activities, as needed.
- Deliver timely, responsive, positive customer service to internal and external constituents.
- Actively support and demonstrate IASLC core values.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed to support programs.
Requirements
CURRENT RESUME AND COVER LETTER ARE REQUIRED WITH ALL APPLICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION. Minimum Qualifications: - A deep commitment to the mission of the IASLC and compassion for those living with a lung cancer diagnosis.
- Bachelor's degree
- 2-3 years of experience in continuing medical education, instructional design, or professional adult education or certification programs
- Excellent written literacy and customer service skills
- Proficiency in standard computer programs with a demonstrated aptitude for quickly and efficiently learning and embracing new software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in prioritizing, organization, time management, and project management with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with designing CME activities and ACCME accreditation standards
- Experience with adult learning, instructional technology, graphic design, and/or multimedia development.
- Previous work experience at a medical society or association.
- Understanding of continuing professional development
- International experience and multicultural sensitivity.
- Multilingual literacy/fluency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
- Proficiency in instructional design software and authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or Canva.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Digital Events Strategist (DES) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Strong aptitude for quickly learning and using new software systems for efficient project management and departmental processes.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to track, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
- Demonstrated ability to organize complex projects and be attentive to details that will influence the success of a project.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
- Knowledge of healthcare terminology and industry trends.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation in education
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
- Proven administrative skills including the ability to set priorities, maintain timelines, and manage multiple projects and associated tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to develop effective partnerships with IASLC staff and members, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong multicultural awareness and sensitivity with the ability to work effectively in cross-cultural contexts.
- Actively support and demonstrate IASLC core values.
Physical Demands: - Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Ability to lift/move 25-30 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate international volunteers.

Compensation: $60,000-75,000 annually
