Description
As the Chief Accounting Officer, you will report directly to the CFO and oversee all accounting, financial reporting, systems, and internal controls for a growing energy and infrastructure organization. This role requires a strong background in industrial construction or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environments, and experience managing financial compliance and reporting for Department of Energy (DOE) or other large-scale federal projects is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, project costing, fixed assets, and financial reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, preparing reports for management, board, and grant/loan compliance
- Coordinate annual audits and ensure timely, GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ad hoc financial insights
- Manage accounts payable and day-to-day accounting operations
- Collaborate with external partners and firms to ensure accurate tax compliance and reporting
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 23 accounting professionals
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Seven (7)+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in industrial construction, EPC, energy, infrastructure, or Department of Energy projects
- Proven success managing project-based accounting and compliance for large-scale infrastructure or energy initiatives
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to convey financial insights to diverse stakeholders
