Job Description

We are seeking a full time Community Health Educator to educate healthcare professionals and consumers regarding: 1) perinatal mental health conditions such as perinatal depression and anxiety; 2) screening for these conditions; and 3) resources to support the emotional well-being of new parents. In addition, collaboration to identify supportive and treatment resources is required. The overall goals of this program are to facilitate early symptom recognition and refer to appropriate resources.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field i.e. Psychology, Social Work. a minimum of two years' experience

Experience: Two (2) years' experience in maternal working in maternal health and experience educating individuals or groups.

Required: Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, strong interpersonal & oral/written communication skills required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Valid driver's license and ability to provide proof of ongoing automobile insurance coverage. This position entails reimbursable local and statewide travel utilizing personal vehicle. Occasional evening and weekend hours to provide education and attend other events

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

•Assist with the regional assessment of services and resources available for treatment of postpartum depression.

•Educate consumers and professionals regarding postpartum depression.

•Participate in the quarterly Maternal Mental Health Task Force and Consortium Education Team meetings.

•Attend NJDOH meetings as requested.

•Attends meetings of the Maternal Mental Health Task Force

•Seek regional opportunities to provide education on postpartum depression.

•Collaborate with the FIMR coordinator, Connecting NJ, and Healthy Women Healthy Families as necessary.

•Other duties may be assigned.

Working Conditions:

There are no unusual working conditions associated with this position. Noise level in the office is moderate. Adherence to the CJFHC dress code is required. Employees are required to attend educational events and meetings at external locations and will therefore experience normal weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

Employees are required to occasionally lift up to twenty pounds of materials or equipment.
