Job Description
Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks a College Recruiter to focus on increasing enrollment by building relationships throughout the community, partnering with program directors, encouraging campus visits to select partners, and building a continuous pipeline of students from high schools as well as non-traditional pathways. The College Recruiter will be responsible for building relationships on and off campus. The College Recruiter is expected to be a self-starter with strong time management skills who can work on their own in the field, be accountable for their job duties and actions, and be able to contribute to the overall recruitment strategy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contacts and meets high school counselors, teachers, community organization leaders, and professionals to explain the benefits of a CCC education.
Participates in classroom visitations and other special events to explain CCC to potential students.
Provides information regarding admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective students and parents via phone, mail and personal visits; conducts follow up with mail or phone call as appropriate.
Assists new students with the application process and explains career options.
Produces follow-up reports regarding activities and future recruiting plans.
Attends departmental and/or college meetings to maintain awareness of new educational areas that may be of interest to college recruits.
Works with colleagues to coordinate assigned activities with other programs, departments, and outside agencies and organizations.
Provides multi-campus support during special events and tours.
Works with colleagues in the implementation of special projects.
Serves as consultant and resource to internal departments with recruitment training and new student enrollment process training via information sessions, committees, and professional development opportunities.
Develops recruitment plan for academic programs. Promotes and maintains awareness of other student services.
Coordinates education fairs at local businesses.
Adheres to customer service excellence standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Guidance, Psychology, or Marketing supplemented by five (5) years of experience in marketing, college recruiting, and/or promotion required.
A combination of education and professional work experience may be considered at the discretion of management.
Ability to organize and implement detailed and complex projects.
Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs.
Knowledge of curriculum program offerings and admissions policies.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both one on one interaction and group presentations.
Ability to work independently under pressure.
Ability to work well as a team player.
Ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current operations in an effort to improve the future goals of Wilbur Wright College.
Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Ability and willingness to travel between Wilbur Wright College, Humboldt Park Campus, and recruitment sites, as needed.
This position is represented by Local 1600 Professional Union.
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within six (6) months of hire.
