POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Class A CDL driver will be responsible for delivering materials and equipment to various job sites, ensuring that our projects run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves securing loads properly, following delivery schedules, and maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance. As a local driver, this person will be home daily and work regular hours with occasional overtime.

This position is a local, day shift driver position. Start time typically 6:00AM, for 8-10 hours.

RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES:

These responsibilities generally describe the nature of the position and may not be all inclusive:

• Operate a Flatbed Truck with a Gooseneck Trailer: Safely drive and operate a truck equipped with a gooseneck trailer to transport materials, machinery, or equipment to local job sites, warehouses, or customers.
• Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform routine inspections of the truck and trailer, checking for any mechanical issues, tire wear, and ensuring all lights, brakes, and equipment are in proper working order.
• Load and Unload Cargo: Assist with loading and unloading of materials, ensuring they are properly secured to prevent shifting or damage during transport. Follow all safety procedures for securing loads, including using chains, straps, and tarps.
• Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and hours of service requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, driving hours, and vehicle inspections. Complete and submit required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service during pick-ups and deliveries, including professional communication with clients and adherence to scheduled delivery times.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of the truck and trailer, reporting any significant mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel for repair.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience as a CDL driver, preferably in construction or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50-100 lbs regularly.
• Assistance with the loading and unloading of freight, which may require handling heavy or awkwardly shaped items.
