Sughrue Mion, PLLC, a leading Intellectual Property law firm located in Washington, DC is seeking a chemical attorney or chemical patent agent. This position will analyze patent applications in the chemical sciences requiring a working knowledge of material science, chemistry or chemical engineering.
Essential Functions : Consult with clients to ascertain technical details about inventions; interview clients to ascertain technical details of the invention to be patented; analyze information on patent applications to ensure compliance with the requirements of the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office; conduct examiner interview; recommend specific solutions for the preparation of the claim amendments; provide legal opinions regarding infringement and validity of patents.
Education & Experience :
Bachelor or Masters degree in material science, chemistry or chemical engineering. Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one State bar (for attorney). Strong academic credentials. Registered to practice before the USPTO. One or more years of substantial recent experience in prosecuting patent applications.
Position location: This position is located in the Washington, DC office which currently operates in a hybrid mode, both in-house and remote.
