Basketball League Coach Department: Sports
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: North Suburban YMCA
Compensation: $17.00 / hour
Description The Oak Square YMCA is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Basketball League Coach to lead our youth basketball program. This role involves coaching and refereeing for children aged 4-12. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals. The coach will be responsible for teaching basketball skills and facilitating games, creating an engaging and supportive environment for all participants.
Shifts: - Tuesday and Wednesday 4pm - 6pm
- Saturday 9am - 1pm
Session Dates:
- Early Fall Session: September 14th - November 9th
- Jr. Celtics Season: November 12th - February 23rd
Key Responsibilities Responsibilities - Instruct and coach children on basketball fundamentals, including skills and drills.
- Referee games, ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules.
- Session Structure: Begin each session with a brief lesson on drills, followed by facilitating gameplay among participants
- Adapt to a schedule that may change based on enrollment.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
Jr. Celtics Opportunity The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved in our Jr. Celtics season, a more competitive youth league with a specific structure to follow. This season offers a unique chance to work with young athletes in a more structured and competitive environment, enhancing their skills and understanding of the game.
