Salary: $56,000 - $63,000 annually

Under the supervision of the Manager of Autism and Behaviour Services, the Autism Therapist provides services based on the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

The Autism Therapist will work collaboratively with other disciplines and families using a virtual platform, in centre, classroom, home or community, as needed. The Autism Therapist is responsible for assessment, data collection, documentation preparation, data analysis, training others using the BST model, and working collaboratively with peers.

Please note that this is a contract full-time position, working 35 hours per week covering a staff leave with a planned end date of September 12th 2025 or until the staff on leave returns, whichever is earlier.

Please note the salary for this position is $56,000 - $63,000 annually.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide intervention to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
  • Use the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to train families and service providers to address the needs that children/youth with ASD have in the areas of communication, social/interpersonal skills, daily living skills, behaviour management/self-regulation, play and leisure skills, vocational skills,
  • Participate in the development and delivery of both individualized and group interventions under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
  • Conduct collaborative sessions with ROCK service providers of other disciplines (eg, OT, PT, Mental Health, SLP, etc) , in individualized and/or group formats as needed by program
  • Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care and, by identifying and reporting any client safety
  • Ensure compliance with the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as any further health and safety responsibilities as outlined in agency policy and procedure

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Post graduate diploma in the Behavioural Sciences field (e.g., BST diploma).
  • Preference for working towards master’s degree in ABA.

Experience:

  • At least two and a half years of experience delivering services using ABA with children and youth with an autism spectrum disorder, up to age 21, under the supervision of a BCBA or Registered Psychologist with experience in
  • Experience working with and programming for children and youth with communication challenges, social skills needs, daily living skills challenges, play and leisure skill needs, vocational skill needs, children and youth who engage in challenging behavior,
  • Experience training others (e.g., caregivers, service providers) to implement programs.
  • Experience providing family and child centered
  • Experience providing both group and individual ABA
  • Experience running workshops is an asset.
  • Training and experience implementing Early Start Denver Model and/or Project ImPACT is an

  • Strong interpersonal
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a treatment

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of technology and working in a virtual environment, as required of the position. MAC OS operating systems experience preferred (strong MS Word and Excel competencies are essential; expertise in the use of PowerPoint is an asset)..
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and travel within the Halton Region in alignment with the program
  • Access to reliable transportation in alignment with the program
  • Current (within the last three months) criminal reference check, including vulnerable sector
