Community Service Officer I – Auraria Campus Police Department Maintain campus security and ensure the safety, security, and well‑being of Auraria Campus students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property. Essential Job Functions Patrolling and Monitoring Safeguard people, property, and assets by conducting interior and exterior patrols of buildings, garages, and parking lots by vehicle, bicycle, or on foot. Maintain clear, effective communication with security personnel, police officers, dispatch, and relevant departments. Interact daily with campus patrons, providing customer‑focused service and exemplary communication. Investigations and Reporting Investigate and report non‑injury accidents, property‑crime incidents, parking violations, and first reports of injuries. Interview victims/witnesses and complete detailed reports using the department’s records‑management system. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable municipal and state laws, policies, and procedures. Accurately complete data entry within the records‑management system. Operate and review network‑based video surveillance systems to support investigations. Call Response Respond to a variety of call‑in situations, including non‑injury crashes, non‑criminal violations, citizen and motorist assistance, and citizen escorts. Perform lock/unlock services for interior/exterior doors and investigate security breaches. Respond to medical emergencies and incidents requiring de‑escalation techniques. Assist patrol officers with traffic control, scene security, and other duties not requiring law‑enforcement action. Emergency Response Respond to all intrusion, panic, and system alarms. Actively respond to fire calls, chemical spills, bomb threats, and other hazardous situations. Support evacuation procedures, manage crowd control, and assist emergency response personnel on scene. Respond to medical and other emergency calls. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of customer‑based experience or one year of college coursework. High School diploma or GED. Minimum age 18 years. Valid and unencumbered Colorado driver’s license. Conditions of Employment Fluent written and verbal English communication required. Background, credit, and drug‑screening investigations, including polygraph, fingerprint, and CCIC/NCIC clearances. Successful completion of a physical and psychological examination by a licensed provider. No felony convictions, domestic‑violence history, or alcohol offenses within the last three years.
