Position: Appraiser

Department: Appraisal – Emigrant Funding Corp.

Reports To: Chief Appraiser

Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Office Location: New York, NY

Job Summary:

In addition to conforming to FIRREA and USPAP, the role of an EFC appraiser is to provide objective, impartial and unbiased opinions about value of real properties and to communicate my findings and conclusions to the lending and management team.

Job Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Effectively analyze complex commercial real estate for lending and internal monitoring purposes.
  • Review corporate and individual tax returns, review property rent rolls and operating statements, leases, contract of sales, deeds, taxes bills, surveys and Certificate of occupancy in order to perform appraisal assignments.
  • Scheduling of site inspections, perform on-site inspections of income-producing properties, interview/converse with residential and commercial tenants to confirm rents and operating expenses, confirm property real estate taxes, assessment/exemption info and verify current tax status and develop understanding of regulatory issues including DHCR, housing violations and certificate of occupancy issues.
  • Prepares independent appraisal report in conformance with the requirements of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and Title X1 of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act and internal policies.
  • Provide objective, impartial and unbiased opinions about value of real properties.
  • Communicate our findings and conclusions to the lending and management team.
  • Work with underwriting staff and mortgage consultants, by providing pertinent data of all properties considered for mortgage loans such as neighborhood trends, factors of value and influences on value.
  • Maintain and build relationships with other appraisers, real estate agents and mortgage brokers whom can provided alternate sources of information needed to complete appraisal assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree, writing and math skills, appraisal courses and computer proficiency required.
  • Must at a minimum have a NY or NJ real estate appraisal trainee license (current and in good standing).

New York pay range

$90,000—$120,000 USD
